2023 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid

2023 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most striking-looking electric cars out there and a 2023 carwow Buy It Award winner, but it is more than just squared-off lines and sharp angles – it’s out to take on the likes of the Volkswagen ID.4 and Ford Mustang Mach-e.

The flat floor means you can get three adults in the back and the doors open nice and wide to help you get a child seat in and out. The only quibble is that the floor is relatively high in relation to the seat cushion so taller occupants might feel that their knees are bending more than they would in a conventional seat. It hides its size well, and is actually the size of a family SUV, which means you get loads of room inside for people and luggage alike.

Engine & Performance:

The Hyundai Ioniq is offered with a 1.6-liter Plug-in hybrid engine paired with a 32 kW electric motor. The engine and electric motor combine to produce approximately 139 horsepower. The 1.5-liter engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic Dual Clutch Transmission. It therefore maintains the speed of the Ioniq by shifting between gears fairly quickly.

When we compare the performance characteristics and refer to the domestic ones, the Hyundai Hybrid Ioniq is in pretty good shape in this department. For example, the Honda Civic X with a 1.8-liter engine has 139 horsepower like the Ioniq. Toyota Corolla Grande 1.8 makes the same mark as 138-139. Thus, Ioniq does not lag behind domestic industry competitors in terms of power.

Features and Specifications

The Hyundai Ioniq comes with a Macpherson suspension up front and a multi-link rear suspension at the rear. Inside, the Hybrid Ioniq is the best in its league. Between the two AC fans is a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment panel. Just below the infotainment panel is a series of knobs and buttons for various cabin functions, and then below that are the climate controls. Gear and drive modes are located in the center console. The lower part of the Hyundai Ioniq steering wheel has a flat finish that improves the appearance of the interior. There’s enough space right in front of the center console to place cup holders and other items. The black and white interior actually gives it a premium look.

Mileage and drivability

The Ioniq by Hyundai claims one of the best hybrid averages in its league. Hyundai claims the Ioniq has achieved 25 km per liter on the highway and in local combined in real-world tests. Considering that this is a compact, everyday-use sedan that doesn’t charge for electric power or extra power, the 25 km per liter most of us want to reach.

Compared to the rest of the world, the Hyundai Ioniq

Hyundai Ioniq was launched at a price of 6.4 million PKR or 64 lacs (No current price PKR 70). In the US, the Ioniq starts at $22,400, which equates to PKR 3.5 million.

In the UK the Ion starts at £24,795 and costs around 4.3 million or 43 lakhs

This huge difference, almost two-thirds or two-thirds of the price, comes with heavy taxes and duties, with importers’ desire to make money on vehicles. In other words, the Ioniq costs twice the international price, so the price justification makes no sense to me. However, none of the prices make sense right now, which explains why consumers aren’t buying new cars from either manufacturer right now.
