Acer releases Swift 5 and Swift 3 equipped with 12th generation Intel chips

Acer has released the latest versions of the Swift 5 and Swift 3 laptops with Intel’s latest 12th generation processors. Comes with a dual 14-inch touch screen with a battery life of up to 10 hours.

While the Swift 5 is a premium laptop designed for professionals, the Swift 3 is advertised as something that is well-suited to both casual and professional profiles.

Design and Screen

In terms of design, the new Swift 5’s two-tone aluminum chassis reflects a very elegant design. It has a 14-inch WQXGA touch screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels. The screen’s 92.2 percent screen-body ratio and 16:10 aspect ratio allow users to view vertical content more comfortably. The screen is ion silver. It is additionally protected with Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass for durability and surface protection

As for the Acer Swift 3, it has a similar 14 “Full HD or Quad HD touch screen with a 16: 9 aspect ratio.

The Acer Swift 5 claims to be made of plastic waste and has an OceanGlass touch panel certified for the Microsoft Precision Touchpad, which supports multi-finger gestures. It also has a built-in Windows Hello fingerprint reader on the power button, Cortana for voice support, and Intel Evo for an instant wake-up experience.

It has a backlit keyboard with an air inlet design that can transmit 8-10 percent more heat than a standard keyboard. We don’t know much about the Swift 3’s keyboard at the moment, but we expect it to look like the Swift 5.

Storage and Hardware
Under the hood, the Swift 5 features a 12th-generation Intel Core processor with up to 12 cores, along with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. The laptop has up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD memory and up to 16 GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM. The Swift 5 is well-equipped for high performance and wide versatility without slowing down your laptop unnecessarily.

It also comes with an aerospace-level aluminum construction and features an improved TwinAir dual fan system to increase airflow and offer higher thermal efficiency. Additional connection options include Wi-Fi 6E, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.1 port and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports.

For video conferences and meetings, the Swift 5 comes with a full HD MIPI webcam, along with Acer’s Transient Noise Reduction (TNR) technology, to deliver high-quality video even in low light conditions.

The main features of the Swift 3 are very similar to the features of the Acer Swift 5, the only major differences are the cooling technology and structure. Under the hood, the Swift 3 also features 12th generation Intel Core processors combined with up to 2TB of SSD memory.

The Swift 3 is equipped with Acer’s TwinAir dual-fan cooling system, which improves the thermal performance of a single-fan machine by 65.8%. In this case, connection options include Wi-Fi 6E, USB Type-C, USB Type-A and HDMI 2.1 ports. In addition, the laptop is equipped with DTS audio speakers for better sound quality.

Battery and availability

Swift 5 offers up to 10 hours of battery life at full power. The laptop also offers fast charging support, which offers more than four hours of battery life with a 30-minute charge.

Similarly, Swift 3’s fast charging technology offers about four hours of battery life with a 30-minute charge.

Delivery of the two Acer laptops will begin in June 2022, starting at $ 850 for the Swift 3 and $ 1,499 for the Swift 5. Its predecessor in 2020 started at $ 1,000.
