Honda Plans To Release An SUV That Will Compete With The Toyota Corolla Cross

Honda is watching the crossover SUV market with a number of upcoming models. We have juice in one of them. Reports from Japan show that the company is working on a new crossover that will fit between a small HR-V and a mid-size CR-V.

The upcoming Honda crossover has no name yet. However, it is confirmed that it will compete directly with the Toyota Corolla Cross, Haval Jolion and Subaru XV.

Here’s everything we know about the Honda crossover of the same name.

The projected Honda crossover will fill the gap between the Vezel and the CR-V. There are reports that Honda will stop production of CR-V in 2022. And by the end of this year, there will be three new Honda SUV lines, including this one.

Popular Japanese publication Best Car Web shared two photos of the approaching Honda crossover. The pictures are not official, but the design prospects of the crossover are clear. Traces of the current HR-V are clearly visible on the grille and solid taillights.

Another interesting observation is that the design elements of the SUV are similar to the BMW iX EV.

The upcoming Honda SUV shares the same platform as the new 11th generation Honda Civic. It will have Civic’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Honda will also introduce a “self-filling” gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain.

We have heard that the new Honda crossover will officially debut later this year, from June to September 2022.

There is nothing official yet. But the speculation must be rich because it is from a Japanese publication. Honda’s future SUV competitors are being formed. We hope that one or two will enter international markets in 2022. This means that the SUV game is heating up and we are here for that.
