Honor has been continuously producing new mid-range and flagship phone lines since becoming independent from Huawei, but not all of them have been released globally. Fortunately, there is no such risk in the new Magic 4 series, which debuted in Barcelona.
The European presentation at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is a clear sign of Honor’s plans to sell the Magic 4 series worldwide and, of course, in the UK and Europe. there. China.
Here’s everything you need to know.
When Is Honor Magic 4 Coming Out
Honor announced two Magic 4 phones along with the Earbuds 3 Pro and Watch GS 3 – Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro at MWC on February 28, but the phones are not yet available.
Honor plans to sell the phones in Europe soon, but an exact date has yet to be confirmed. We know the presentation will also cover the UK, as British network Three has confirmed its plans to keep both phones in reserve.
The company also unveiled the Magic 4 Ultimate at its launch event in China on February 17. It will likely remain in China only and will be available in that market “late this year”.
The launch of the Magic 4 kills any hope that it will receive the promised global version of the Magic 3, and similarly, the Honor 60 or Honor Magic V foldable models are unlikely to go on sale worldwide, as you might think. If there’s a plan, we’ve already started.
How much does the Magic 4 cost?
The regular Magic 4 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will cost €899 ($1,000 / £760), while the Pro model will cost €1,099 ($1,220 / £930) for the same specs.
The Ultimate costs ¥7999 in China, which translates to around $1260 / £960 / €1140.
Honor Magic 4 specifications
Since there are three Magic 4 phones, let’s break it down one by one, starting with the regular model.
Honor Magic 4
Both Magic 4 phones see the return of a large, round camera module called the “Eye of the Muse” that appears in the Magic 3 for reasons best known to Honor, and in most cases the two phones look the same elsewhere.
They’re big thanks to 6.81-inch screens, but the curved body should hold phones comfortably. It’s still pretty thick at 8.8mm, but not too heavy at 199 grams.

The front has a regular Magic 4 single, central aperture selfie camera, while the rear is available in different colors: Black, White, Blue, Gold.
While the IP54 rating isn’t as good as the IP68 rating found on the Pro model, it guarantees good water and dust resistance.
The 6.81-inch curved display is an FHD+ image-sized AMOLED with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It also uses LTPO technology; this means it can lower the refresh rate to 1Hz when needed, which saves battery life for less demanding tasks.
Inside, the phone is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip so you get a totally high level of performance. The chip is combined with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of memory – the options available will undoubtedly vary depending on the market.
The 4800mAh battery is large so it should be able to last that long, and the 66W wired charger charges the battery quickly. Note that there is no wireless charging.
As for this big round camera, it consists of three lenses: 50Mp main camera, 50Mp ultra-wide and 8Mp 5x zoom periscope telephoto.
Finally, the phone runs MagicUI 6.0 on Android 12, which combines several new customization and AI features. Now Honor has full support for Google apps and services as it is separate from its former owner Huawei.
The only downside is that Honor has yet to guarantee any number of Android version updates or years of security support, so we don’t know how long this phone will last. Android 13 most likely, but a little less certain.

Honor Magic 4 Pro

The Magic 4 Pro is very similar to the regular model, and the differences in design are subtle – mainly the adjustments to the camera module and the presence of an orange PU leather case.
It’s about the same size, but 9.1mm thicker and slightly heavier – 209g for vegan skin and 215g for glass models. It also has a full IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The screen is the same size, but rectangular – which means that the top and bottom edges are wrapped not only on the sides, but also around it. It also has a slightly higher resolution at 1312 x 2848 and has some additional display and magnification tricks compared to other traditional optical sensor models, as well as its own in-display chipset for the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
While the battery is actually a touch smaller at 4600 mAh, the key specs are basically the same. This is likely to make room for a more powerful 100W charger adapted for a more efficient 100W wireless charging speed. It’s the fastest wireless charger we’ve seen on any phone, and can charge the battery up to 50% in just 15 minutes.
The camera is another area where things change. First, there is the dual front camera located in the cutout of the pill in the upper left corner of the screen. The second is a 3D depth camera for superior portrait capture and a more secure 3D face unlock.
As for the rear cameras, the two main lenses are similar, but the telephoto has changed. The Pro gets a 64Mp, f/3.5, 3.5x periscope magnification lens – this is a shorter optical zoom distance, but thanks to a higher resolution sensor, it can zoom up to 100x, combining the optical effect with cutout on the sensor. It will be interesting to see how these two phones compare – Honor probably thinks this setup is superior to the regular model 5x periscope.

Honor Magic 4 Ultimate

The Magic 4 is a step up from the Ultimate Pro, as the changes focus on the camera.
The camera is raised from different angles. First, the 50Mp main camera uses a larger, 1 / 1.2-inch sensor with f / 1.6 aperture, which should be able to capture more light in most cases for superior shooting in all conditions.
It is ultra-wide, has a higher resolution at 64Mp, and the company claims to have a dual-lens lens that provides the industry’s lowest image distortion.
After that, although the periscope and selfie cameras are the same, the rear mount gets the first 50Mp “spectral enhanced camera” used in the Magic V, which helps to select details in unusual conditions, including fog. All lenses also benefit from a new custom image signal processor.
The new imaging technology makes the phone a little thicker and heavier, not to mention that it has a ceramic back. Otherwise, it has the same features as the 6.81-inch LTPO display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, and fast wired charging capabilities – although wireless charging drops to only 50 watts.
