Setting up your new Wi-Fi router isn’t as complicated as it seems. This comprehensive guide will show you the whole step-by-step process of configuring your Wi-Fi router for the first time.

After finding and purchasing the router you want according to your needs, simply follow these instructions to install it.

Connecting the router to the modem:

  • To share your Internet connection with more than one device, you need to connect your router to the modem. Practically place your router next to the modem.
  • Connect both the modem and the router with an Ethernet cable.
  • You need to connect the modem to the Internet port / WAN on your router.

Connecting Your Devices with Ethernet:

  • Connect your computer, TV or video game console directly to the router via Ethernet for faster and better connection. It does not require additional configuration steps.
  • To configure your router, you need to connect at least one computer, if not all, via Ethernet.
  • After setting up the router, you can disconnect this device later.

Find The IP Address Of The Router

To determine the default IP address of the router, look at the label or box that came with it.
If you can’t find it anywhere, look for a model of your router on the Internet.

Your browser will automatically try to connect to the router’s configuration menu.

Enter your username and password

To restrict unwanted sites, go to the Security / Block section of the router.
Enter the domains or keywords of the sites to be blocked.
