Can you believe that Huawei has not yet released a phone with a 108 MP camera? The company has opted for more sensor size than the resolution for its flagships, but they can allow for optical magnification. 108 MP sensors help when the whole phone has digital magnification, and such sensors have been an excellent choice for the mid-range.
This brings us to the leaked information about Huawei Nova 9 SE, Huawei’s first phone with a 108 MP camera. According to WinFuture, the phone will cost 250-280 euros. There are fewer phones in the European market with a 108 MP camera for less than € 300, but the competition is always good.
Huawei is having a hard time finding chips, especially those with a 5G connection, so it’s no surprise that the 9 SE is the only 4G phone. Although the Snapdragon 665 is a surprise, this 11nm chipset was announced in early 2019 and is three years old. The Snapdragon 680 is a newer 4G chip built in the 6nm process, but we expect it to significantly expand the budget.
In any case, the Nova 9 SE will have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory, as well as a microSD slot (not available in both Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro). It will work with EMUI 12 on Android 11 and will not have access to Google Play services.
Returning to the camera, the 108 MP main module will be accompanied by an 8 MP ultra wide camera and two 2 MP auxiliaries (macro and depth). The 16-megapixel selfie camera will live in a hole in the screen. For comparison, other Nova 9 models have a 50 + 8 + 2 + 2MP camera on the back and a 32MP camera on the front (in addition, the Pro has an ultra-wide selfie camera).
Speaking of the screen, Huawei chose a fairly large 6.78-inch LCD with 1080 x 2388 pixels (19.9: 9 aspect ratio). There is no information about high refresh rates or tempered glass, but this information may be beyond leaks.
The phone will also have a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging (power value unknown), a fingerprint reader built into the power button and NFC.
It is not yet known when Huawei will launch the Nova 9 SE, but the leak claims that it will arrive in Europe soon.
Note. We didn’t notice that the Honor 50 SE is almost the same phone, except for the 5G chipset (Dimensity 900). There are a few other differences, such as the microSD slot (which can be more depending on how accurate the leaked data is). However, the Honor 50 SE is not available in Europe.
