It looks like OnePlus is putting the finishing touches on the successor to the excellent Nord 2. Here are the latest news and rumors about the long-awaited OnePlus Nord 3.
When Will The OnePlus Nord 3 Go On Sale?
OnePlus hasn’t officially announced the Nord 3 yet, so there’s no set launch date. While what we’ve seen are some clear indications of when it might show up.
Android Central says the OnePlus Nord 3 will feature 150W Super VOOC fast charging, recently demonstrated by Oppo (a stable partner of OnePlus at BBK Electronics). The company said it will launch a new model in the second quarter of 2022 that will offer the super-fast charging standard. He suspects it will be Nord 3 and offers a potential window for April-June 2022.
With the Nord series traditionally arriving in the summer, the Nord 3 is likely to launch in June. Here’s what his predecessors did when he took office:
- OnePlus Nord: August 2020
- OnePlus Nord 2: July 2021
The new device is more likely to be the OnePlus Nord 2T rather than the OnePlus Nord 3 in general, and there are some rumors and speculations about it. In any case, it shouldn’t take us long to find out.
How Much Will The OnePlus Nord 3 Cost?
Again, there is no information about prices from OnePlus, so we can only look at the previous model as an indicator. Nord 2 5G introduced a number of configurations with the following price tags
- 6GB RAM + 128GB memory: 27,999 ₹
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: £399 / €399 / ₹29,999 / $529
- 12GB RAM + 256GB memory: £469 / €499 / ₹34,999 / $629
Now that OnePlus has a few devices in its current range, we’d be surprised to see any significant price increases as it will require the addition of others to keep the build intact. As we’ve all pointed out, it’s clear that the cost of living as a whole is increasing, so it’s possible that the above numbers are going up, but we hope that’s not the case.
What features and Specifications will we see in the OnePlus Nord 3?
As you probably know, there are no confirmed details on what components we will find in the OnePlus Nord 3 (other than the fast charging feature). However, several rumors have surfaced that the device will be based on the Realme GT Neo 3, which is expected to go on sale in March 2022 (at least in China).
With that in mind, this is what OnePlus has developed for the Nord 3.
Processor
According to a technical leak from a generally reliable Digital Chat Station, the silicone selected in the Nord 3 will most likely be the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset. This would be an improvement over the Dimensity 1200 SoC on the Nord 2, but the fact that it has more than the previous chip makes it a bit confusing.
The Dimensity 8100 has a 5nm process smaller than the SoC 1200, as well as various enhanced capabilities for cameras, faster RAM, and supports 120Hz refresh rates for the display (something that will become more standard in phones by 2022).
The Digital Chat Station adds that it will be combined with 12 GB of LPDRR5 RAM and an unknown amount of UFS 3.1 memory – although we expect a lot of RAM and storage options.
Display
We’ve seen several different rumors that OnePlus will drop the Nord 2’s 6.43-inch display in favor of the larger 6.7-inch panel on the Nord 3. It is thought to feature Full HD+, AMOLED and the aforementioned 120Hz update. degrees. If so, the Nord 2 will be a solid improvement.
Cameras
OnePlus’ predecessor, the Nord 3, is expected to retain its triple rear camera configuration with a 50Mp main shooter surrounded by 8Mp (ultra-wide) and 2Mp (monochrome) blocks. Both GizmoChina and Digital Chat Station say the main camera will be based on the 50Mp Sony IMX766 sensor used in the OnePlus Nord 2 and OnePlus 9RT.
Battery and charging
As mentioned earlier, the Nord 3 has a great chance to support the latest fast charging features offered by the new 150W Super-Vooc technology. When told to connect to a 4500mAh battery, it should see the charge go from zero to 100% within 15 minutes. This should indicate that your phone is dead at night as it can be fully charged when you get dressed in the morning.
We’ll update this article as more information becomes available, so check back to see what we found. Be sure to read our guide to the best OnePlus phones to see where the Nord 3 stands in the pantheon of brands.
