Poco Presents The first M Series Smartphone With AMOLED Display

At this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), POCO announced the first M-series smartphone to support the AMOLED display. Last year we witnessed the 5G version of the same smartphone, and now the company has launched the 4G version. The new 4G version uses a different chipset, as well as other changes.

Design and Screen

The M4 Pro 4G 5G supports a 6.43 ”AMOLED panel that replaces the 6.6” IPS LCD. The screen is protected by a 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch pattern, a 20: 9 aspect ratio and the classic Gorilla Glass 3.

The smartphone also offers jump resistance with an IP53 rating. It also uses a side-fingerprint reader for biometrics and authentication.

Storage and Hardware

Under the hood is the Helio G96, which replaces the Dimensity 810 5G in the 4G version. But the GPU remains the same, Mali G57 MC2. The device offers two memory options, 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB. It has LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 memory, you can also expand it with a microSD slot.

Virtual RAM is also available here, as the smartphone runs on MIUI 13 and adds 3 GB to 8/256 GB.

Like its predecessor, the M4 Pro also offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual speakers, Z-axis linear motor, IR blaster and NFC.

Cameras

The M4 Pro 4G is equipped with a triple lens for photography. This includes an 8MP ultra wide angle and a 64MP main sensor supported by a 2MP macro lens. The 64 MP main sensor is the highest resolution sensor on the Poco M, the 8 MP ultra wide lens is the same, and the 2 MP macro lens is a new addition. There is also a 16MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calls.

Battery and availability

Thanks to the 5000 mAh battery that powers the smartphone and the built-in 33 W charger, it can go from zero to 100% in 1 hour and can last up to 2 days in normal use before recharging.

The Poco M4 Pro starts at 220 euros (~ $ 246) for the 6/128 GB configuration, while the upgraded 8/256 GB model starts at 270 euros (~ $ 302).
